Been skiing here for 20 years the new ownership has put a ton of money into the hill with new snow making, chalets, and new lifts/runs. I would definitely recommend, lots of runs and you can get off the groomed runs into some fresh powder.

Was at Searchmont on Friday, December 26 from 3 pm onwards & had an awesome time. Conditions were amazing thanks to the recent snowfall. Appreciated the grooming done on the Main to transition from day to night riding. Skiing on the corduroy was incredible. Made first turns at 5 pm and was impressed with the opportunity to see & analyze my tracks. People would pay a lot for that learning experience. Was impressed with the courtesy & enthusiasm of the youthful staff on lift duty & cleaning inside. Looking forward to more ripping & riding this week. Skied at Searchmont many times in the golden olden days before moving out of the city. Visited regularly on holidays & dreamed of skiers left on Slalom during absences. Was hoping to be home for Christmas this year & make a few turns. Had a setback when my faithful SUV was towed to the dealership on its final journey. Test-drove & bought a new SUV but miss my old ride. Had another setback when my faithful skis & poles were stolen from my new SUV in the National Capital. Made a dash to a local resort to purchase some Head V8s. Demo'd them last season & was impressed with the carving ability & edge hold. Made a deal on the skis & poles, packed up & headed for SSM to be home for the holidays. Drove through the darkness, snow & rain getting used to the new SUV. Stayed at two hotels before heading Searchmont for 3 pm on Saturday December 26. Took a photo of the rig in the parking lot, changed & headed inside to pick up the $55 ticket. Am used to online ticket sales & electronic passes, but Searchmont still has the old-school ticket-on-a-wire. Retro is cool. Went to the double chair, went up & headed for Slalom for the maiden run. Some easy carves on the upper pitches, blasting through the crudd & moguls & turning nicely. Approached Slalom and stuck to skier's left for the continuous pitch & to avoid riders coming in on the right. The pitch increased and there were bumps, ice and crud. Showtime. The slope got real. Steeper than I recall. Weight forward, dug deep, threw down, linked turns & punched out a great run. These skis can hold, blast, turn & burn. Boo yeah! Skied Slalom a couple more times, Goulais once, then the liftie said "last run", so went down Slalom, cut over to Downhill & tucked over to the Main. Did a run enjoying the flats & the modest pitch under the chair. A liftie with blonde hair in pigtails said the lift would be closed for 45 minutes so they could groom & turn on the lights. She was extremely friendly, happy & enthusiastic and made taking a break sound like fun! Headed for the lodge to warm up. Saw the groomer on the Main setting us up for some sweet riding under the lights. Rode in the groomer with Penti Saarinen back in the day. Chris Greenstead drove the groomer like an F1 racer & put in some long hours. His on-hill skills, lodge diplomacy & camaraderie are legend. Memories. The lights came on so queued up & grabbed a chair. Made some easy turns marvelling at the sensation of first tracks and the feel of the fresh corduroy. Hit the pitch on the right side, kept my rhythm and completed the run. Night time is the right time. Was amazed to see my tracks while riding on the chair. Was hesitant to pull out my phone for fear of dropping it so gawped at the evidence of the turns. Snapped a photo of the single track on the next run & then skied the same line. Was shocked to see some phat carves in a figure 8 pattern. Intetesting what happens when we're relaxed, happy, daydreaming, and doing our thing. Sometimes there's order in the chaos. The triumph of the uncluttered mind.

I went to the ski hill with some friends last weekend and I had a blast!!! It was my first time skiing and it was amazing, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful with any questions I had. They have people who can teach/ help you learn but yolo! The in house restaurant was delicious and gave cozy vibes but the prices are pretty scary for the portions All over a great place with great people!!

Great resort. My favorite in Ontario. Hill has great lifts, probably the best beginner area in Ontario, and a nice challet. Good for families, and the more experienced. The terrain park isn't the largest around, but it's fair size, and there's lots of black diamond and above runs. Including a few forest runs.

Was out at the hill for the first time in a few years. The new owners are turning this hidden gem into a proper destination resort. The renovations are excellent to the main lodge as well as the onsite accommodations. The new lifts are great. I love thé added lift for the newer skiers. The shop run by Crystal is top notch. Fun events for Family Day week-end. These new owners are sparing no expense and they are successful in creating a real ski resort experience. I can’t say enough good things about the new Searchmont. Only reason it isn’t 5 stars is because the renos aren’t yet done and the main lift wasn’t open.

Great place to ski: well groomed slopes, friendly staff, good food, super affordable, hardly any lines on a Saturday in January with great conditions. Highly worth the trip, and no problems going through customs, with only one truck ahead of us. Sault St Marie has lots of good restaurants and we lucked out with very nice AirBNB owners.

Great ski hill. We are used to the southern Ontario hills. Our experience here was great!. A significant amount of snow, well-taken care of trails. Great atmosphere. You know a hill is good if a race is happening there, which was fun to watch. We were 6 of us, and we all had a great time! Will be back for sure.

My friend and I loved it here! We always ski at the massive mountain resorts in the Rockies of Alberta and BC, so we weren't expecting much coming here, but we were pleasantly surprised! Due to recent snow fall, the snow conditions were actually the best we have seen for quite some time. The runs were great, and we loved the tree skiing. Even with only 1 chair open, it wasn't too busy, and there was still a good variety of terrain. They also have a pretty nice terrain park set up with some really jumps and other features. The lodge and cafeteria are nice as well. I highly recommend giving Searchmont a shot!
